Dear VAB Neighbors,
We are happy to inform you after negotiating with the city on where to place the new sidewalks along Marine street they finally acquiesced and agreed to install them on the West side of Marine Street between South and Hedrick Streets. After our presentation at the hearing and several letters to public officials the City agreed to leave our landscape intact and complete the existing sidewalks along west side of Marine Street. This information was made to us during an informal conversation with Reuben Franklin, Engineering Projects Coordinator, DPW.
We would like to take a moment to say THANK YOU to those VAB residents who collected signatures on petitions, attended the hearings and wrote letters. Without your participation we would not have new sidewalks and we would have lost our beautiful landscape in front of our property.
The City’s Department of Public Works informs us that work should begin within the next week or so on several sections of the blocks between the St. Francis Barracks and South Street.
